Job description
We are looking for a Chief System Architect in either the United Kingdom or The Netherlands to play a crucial role in shaping the future of our cloud-based SaaS product. Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of scalable architecture solutions, integrate elasticity and auto-scaling capabilities, and manage containerization strategies. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that solutions align with business needs while maintaining thorough technical documentation.
The ideal candidate has significant experience in software architecture within a SaaS environment, strong expertise in Azure, Kubernetes, and cloud solutions, and the ability to mentor and guide development teams. Critical thinking, accountability, an agile mindset, and strong communication skills are key competencies required for success in this role.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of technical scalable architecture solutions by defining technical architecture, outlining technical processes, and providing guidance to other software developers;
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate elasticity and auto-scaling capabilities into our cloud infrastructure;
- Lead the evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to ensure high availability and performance;
- Oversee the implementation of containerization and orchestration strategies using Kubernetes;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their business needs and defining solutions that align with those;
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system models, process diagrams, and architecture designs;
- Provide experienced leadership, technical direction and mentorship to architects and developers by sharing knowledge and Best Practices;
- Prepare and present technical architectural plans to senior management and other stakeholders;
- Analyse emerging technologies and trends and provide recommendations on how to leverage and improve systems architecture.

Competencies are key, but to be successful in this role you need to bring a few essentials to kickstart the conversation:
- At least 5 years of experience as a software architect and at least 10+ years of experience within software development;
- Strong knowledge of Azure, containerization tools (Kubernetes) and cloud elasticity is a must!
- In-depth experience with containerization tools such as Kubernetes and cloud elasticity is a must;
- Cloud native, strong knowledge of Azure;
- In-depth knowledge of software methodologies, systems architecture and database design;
- Proven experience in a range of technologies: C#, Java, C++, SQL and Python;
- Experience in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions and microservices architecture.
